On the panel, our energy expert Michael Wünnemann reported on green hydrogen projects on a GW scale, while looking at the entire value chain.
In his keynote speech, the German Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Economics Robert Habeck also highlighted some fruitful partnerships for the climate: Green hydrogen from the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) is in demand in Germany and Europe. Together we can develop sustainable solutions to accelerate the energy transition. With our expertise, we accompany and support the technical realisation of innovative projects.
The two-day conference organised by Ghorfa (Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry) brought decision-makers, industry leaders and energy experts to discuss the current challenges and opportunities in the energy sector. This congress was sponsored by Tractebel.
Our experts are working on innovative projects for the sustainable production of green hydrogen on an industrial scale. As solar and wind energy are inexpensive in the Middle East and North Africa, new projects are being created for export and regional supply purposes.
Tractebel accompanies the entire value chain – from the integration of renewable energy supply (generation, grid, storage) to hydrogen production and the supply of derivatives such as methanol and ammonia for domestic consumption and export.

“Due to our long-standing relationships with partners in the region and the experience we gained in global projects over the years, we are a strong partner when it comes to breathing life into and implementing these projects,” says Michael Wünnemann, Head of Gas-to-X at Tractebel.
